Those laughs are the best! When my sister a I would do book readings with 3rd graders of a book we wrote and illustrated we looked forward to the unpredictable questions. The book was inspired by my dog and cat and when we would tell them they often asked the, “Are they dead?” question you mention. One time a kid took it a step further and asked about my dog who had died, “What did you do with his body?” I know that’s a macabre Q but that was our big laugh later. 😂 Only kids.
