So relatable!! Reached that point last year only to be subjected to the oddest job situation I’ve ever experienced: a delusional owner fraudulently creating make-believe companies to fool investors. This guy had taken PPE money, threw together a med supply company and was then trying to stay afloat by creating fake companies. I lasted less than 90 days because I was getting too close to the truth. This was devastating actually because he sold me on lies that were everything I wanted to be a part of: building a med clinic designed to focus on changing the way auto immune disease is diagnosed and treated, and write grants for the fake foundation he said he had. Really messed up. I’ve Spent the last year unsuccessfully trying to get work since I ended my client relationships to take the fraudulent job. Your article instills belief that perhaps volunteerism may be the foot in the door into reliable, meaningful work. Thanks for sharing your triumph over unhappy career adventures. Bravo!
