Hi, yes it's been tough for a long time. I haven't been active for years due to realizing my values are SO not the ones they practice. First, they pressured my parents to donate money to a political Bill in CA that would take away my rights. Disregarding the separation of church and state is a big deal that goes to my core. My ancestors came to America in the 1850s for religious freedom from England. When they got here, they were persecuted and chased across the country with an extermination order in hand by "good Christians." My family members died on the way across the planes (think Donner party history - same timing, close in location, froze to death). So for them to willingly get into a church-n-state issue is beyond any understanding, and a blatant disregard for their own history of persecution in the US. Second, they turned their back on my mom in her hour of need after she did so much for them including so many, many acts of service, and she played the organ at services for 55 years. Third, their recent scandals of the elders hiding and mishandling reports of sexual abuse rather than reporting to law enforcement. Forth, them being found out that they professed that a child who is gay is better off dead. And finally, they were complicit in electing a felon, phony, monster with no regard for humans or women's rights. This was the straw that broke the camels back. I thought that was going to be a quick answer. Oops, can of worms it seems. Thanks for stirring the pot. :)
